Veil Lifted

Dick and Betsy DeVos have just lifted the veil on their philanthropy by taking it to a whole new level – and MLive was there to cover it all. Though Betsy kindly declined to be the one interviewed this time around, the wonderful Dick was more than ready to step up to the plate and give an update – which many had been dying to hear. In the recent interview, he discussed his tactics and strategies, the reason for why he and his wife give so much back to many communities, the passion that drives each of them and so much more. It appears that Dick did not hold back any punches either this time around, nor did he fail to have a solid answer with a firm response to each issue tackled – the main one of which involved all his past and present giving missions.

He and his wife cannot currently keep track of all the places, people and organizations that they have donated to all these last years; for if they tried to keep a record, they wouldn’t have a big enough notebook. Besides, where is the fun in that? This couple generously donates from the bottom of the heart and does not let a budget or certain numbers hold them back: They simply give and let the seeds fail where they may. This is what America honestly loves about this special couple, besides the fact that they do it all together as an adventure; there is perhaps nothing that Dick does without first consulting his wife and vice versa.

Dick DeVos is a lucky man. He is married to the sweet and beautiful Betsy DeVos, with which he has several children. Dick has led the way in major funding, and Betsy is never a step behind him.

Dick may also be found on dickdevos.com. He is also on Facebook. He holds 18,000 likes and followers, respectively. He resides in the beautiful city of Grand Rapids, Mich.

Dick and his wife have recently passed the mark of $139 million dollars in total donations this year and only plan to beat that record very soon as Dick has just mentioned, further noting the following crucial truth: The more one gives, the more one learns to enjoy giving and to truly discover his greatest life’s calling – the needs of others. There are many needs, and Dick plans to gradually uncover as many as he can while putting a permanent solution to the many monetary needs that top charities and people alike face daily. Though new challenges and needs will always rise in this lifetime, he notes that he can do his best to meet as many as possible.

George Soros: Hypocritically and Biasedly Scrutinized

As anyone who is even remotely tuned into politics knows, one of the biggest controversies we face in America today, with respect to the election process, is that of money in politics. Regardless of one’s opinion on the subject, when people speak of donations to the Democratic Party, one name will surely arise, George Soros. While Soros’ conservative adversaries will speak of him in distain for his large contributions to the Democratic Party, they fail to encourage people to follow the paper trail of Soros’ donations. The reasoning behind this? Well, because unlike his anti-humanitarian counter parts backing the Republican Party (The Koch Brothers), George Soros contributions are not simply motivated by the generation of self-wealth.

Aside from donating to the Clinton campaign last election cycle, George Soros was a key contributor to numerous PACs and organizations, supporting various highly ethical causes in recent years. Over the past 30 years, Soros has donated over 13 billion dollars through his international foundations. One of those organizations to make note of, is the Democracy Alliance. George Soros is not only a large contributor to the organization, but helped launch the group in 2005. This particular organization is not intended to support any individual political candidate, nor Party. Instead, the group’s focus is to advocate philanthropical causes such as combating income inequality and climate change. Know more on cnbc.com about George Soros.

George Soros has also allocated over 10 million dollars in funding to support immigrant voting rights and turn out this past election. One of these super PACs called Immigrant Voters Win, serves the purpose of producing greater voting turn out amongst low-propensity Hispanic voters. Another group Soros has generously donated to is a nonprofit organization which aims to fight the conservative effort to restrict voting.

One final key note organization that George Soros has contributed to is one that conservative talking heads make sure to avoid when speaking of Soros. End Citizens United is a PAC fighting for limitations in which a single individual or corporation is allowed to contribute to a candidate or Party. The main talking point in which those who bash Soros, is a battle in which George Soros is on the other side of. Read this article at Washington Times.

Godfather of the Left George Soros Saves the Day

While prominent politicians and powerful right-wing interests in America and Europe busy themselves with scapegoating innocent refugees for all of society’s ills, one man has the courage of his convictions to defend truth, justice and basic human rights for these most vulnerable immigrants. That man, of course, is George Soros. Just when progressive and liberal justice groups thought they were doomed, the Hungarian-born American hedge-fund legend has stepped in to save the day – again. Throughout his life, the self-made finance guru has donated more than $12 billion dollars to humanitarian and social-justice causes, and remains the 23rd richest person in the world, according to Forbes. But at the distinguished age of 86, it seems, Soros is not through yet. In September 2016, Soros announced that his Open Society Foundation would invest $500 million in firms founded by migrants and refugees, with a particular focus on the refugee influx that has arrived in Europe in the last several years. As Forbes notes in its article, Soros has long been “a vocal supporter of refugees.” At a time when xenophobia, racism and right-wing nationalism are on a terrifying rise, Soros’s generous support of migrants and refugees offers a much-needed ray of hope to progressive advocates and civil-rights groups.

Nonetheless, as Forbes points out in its article on Soros’s latest stunning investment in immigrant-owned businesses, thee eminent humanitarian has long had a particular attachment to the cause of refugees. Perhaps this is due to Soros having himself fled Nazi persecution as a child in Hungary. Perhaps it’s just the uncommon decency and altruism that has long defined the life and work of George Soros. Good people of the world can only rejoice that he shows absolutely no signs of slowing down, but rather leads the vanguard of the resistance. George Soros has long been the most effective force for human progress in the world. More than ever, George Soros is democracy’s indispensable friend.
